TAKEN – Starring Liam Neeson (2008) – somewhat idealistic and very “Hollywood,” but important nonetheless, especially in its depiction of women as commodities.

 

HUMAN TRAFFICKING – Starring Donald Sutherland and Mira Sorvino (2009) –

Lifetime Movie mini-series.  One of the best depictions of modern human trafficking

showing its many facets and far-reaching enterprises.

 

TRADE – starring Kevin Klein (2007) – a brutal look into the realities of child sex

trafficking and the level of organization behind this fast-growing crime.

 

BORN INTO BROTHELS – HBO/Cinemax (2005), Academy Award winner for Best

Documentary Feature.  Red Light District of Calcutta; a glimpse into the reality of thousands of impoverished children in India.

 

PLAYGROUND – (2009) Co-executive produced by George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh, directed by Libby Spears, produced by The Nest Foundation.  Documentary that reveals the current crisis of domestic minor sex trafficking and persistent problems of societal biases and legal difficulties in dealing with victims. <Currently seeking licensing for widespread release, but available for private screenings and fundraisers.>
